Enjoy a day away from LA on this wonderfully extravagant wine tasting Adventure. We will whisk you or your friends to Santa Barbara County in our luxurious Mercedes Van. We start our morning off with coffee and pastries, before we travel through the beautiful country side up through the rolling hills and into the Santa Ynez valley.

During this tour you will learn the wine making process from our experienced guides who will teach you the secrets of wine making, followed by tastings at three exquisite and unique wine properties. During our visit we will also stop for a gourmet picnic lunch in the beautiful valley, catered by a mouth watering and highly rated locally owned company.

During our trip we will make several stops at picturesque locations along the way and if times permits we will also stop in the little town of Los Olivos where you can browse and take in the local art galleries and shops.

Then with a glorious day of wine tasting and food behind us, we travel back along the California coastline viewing the beautiful blue Pacific Ocean.

Enjoy a day away from LA on this delightfully extravagant wine tasting and shopping adventure. We will whisk you and your friends to Santa Barbara County in our luxurious Mercedes Van. We start our morning off with coffee and pastries, before we travel through the beautiful country side up through the rolling hills, making several stops at picturesque locations along the way and into the Santa Ynez valley.

During this tour you will learn the wine making process from our experienced guides who will teach you the secrets of making fabulous wines, followed by tastings at two exquisite and unique wine properties. During our visit we will also stop for a gourmet picnic lunch in the beautiful valley, catered by a mouth watering and highly rated locally owned company.

Then we move on to Los Olivos with time to shop and visit the galleries. From there we move on to the magical town of Solvang, where you will have time to walk through the streets of this quaint little town, and enjoy the European ambiance.

The wineries we choose are standouts in the valley with great wine, beautiful grounds and the best hosts. The quaint town of Los Olivos featured in several movies including “Sideways” is a great place to unwind, walk the streets, and visit the shops and galleries; even take in some extra tasting if you desire.

Then with a glorious day of wine, food and shopping behind us we travel back along the beautiful California coastline viewing the blue Pacific Ocean and magical beaches.

FAQ’s

All Santa Barbara Tours

Are reservations required?
Yes. Due to how quickly our Adventures book up we require reservations. We provide breakfast and lunch so we would need to know you’re coming. Occasionally we will have extra space to add on a last minute guest.

Where do we start our Adventure?
For our public trips we depart from Santa Monica. For larger private groups, we can arrange a pickup location for you. Pick up locations will be provided after you purchase your tickets

What is the start and end time of our Adventure?
We start promptly at 8:30am. Since this is Los Angeles - the traffic capital of the world and this is from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara the return time can vary. But we are usually back by 5pm depending on traffic.

How many guests will be on our Adventure?
Part of what makes Local Travel Adventures amazing is that we are a small group and private Adventure company. We will never have more than 12 guests on any Adventure. Also because we are wine tasting we don’t recommend children. (On private Adventures children are welcome.)

What is included in our Adventure?
Transportation in our luxurious Mercedes Van, coffee along with a breakfast snack, water, gourmet lunch, and all wine tastings. Plus some surprises along the way.

What type of lunch is provided?
Only the best will do for our guests. We use local vendors that cater the freshest ingredients. Panino’s is one of our favorites. We usually eat at the 2nd or 3rd stop depending on time.

Are Gratuities included?
No, we prefer to leave that up to you, Our staff works very hard and is very knowledgeable and friendly. They are your “locals” local. We recommend a thank you gratuity of 15%-18%. We know they have earned it. Our private tours require a 15% service charge for gratuities.

What type of wineries will we visit?
There are over 100 wineries and 100 tasting rooms throughout the valley. Our goal is to simplify that into a wonderful tasting Adventure. We choose only the highest rated wineries, with the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff, and beautiful grounds. We vary our trips based on what is being highlighted and poured by the wineries so it is always changing. If you book a private tour we can arrange to go to any wineries that you choose. It can be customized.

How many wineries will we visit?
Normally we visit three to four great wineries. With private groups we can modify to your liking. We can do three and add a visit to a local attraction, or if you really want to taste, we can hit five but don’t really recommend it as wine tasting is an amazing experience not to be rushed.

Wine Tasting Fees?
The more exclusive wineries charge anywhere from $10 - $25 per person as a tasting fee. But because you are with us… it’s included. Plus we get special treatment and surprises.

Should you buy some wine?
It is up to you. We always suggest it if you fall in love with one or two. Many of the wines are only offered at the wineries and cannot be found elsewhere. This is why we do suggest that you look into joining one of the clubs. We will suggest our favorites, but it is always up to you.

What should we bring and wear?
The Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez Valley area has several micro climates. Depending on the time of year it can be from the 50’s (10 Celsius) to 100+ (35+ Celsius) degrees. Inside the wineries and on the wine tours it can be a bit chilly. Our Mercedes vans also have great AC so if you chill easily you might want to bring a small sweater or jacket. Other items include a hat for the sun and comfortable walking shoes. Sandals are ok, but we would recommend staying away from high heels.
And don’t forget that smart phone or camera to capture the memories. Check our website for the weather forecast. We go rain or shine.

Do our rates vary throughout the year?
Very seldom do we change our rates. Weekends are a bit higher and also during the peak harvest and crush seasons.
